Estimated volume of distribution at 10 min and total body clearance were 81 mL/g and 1.2 mL/min/g, respectively. In vivo studies showed a predominant excretion into the bile and, to a minor extent, the kidneys. Its metabolism was shown by HPLC analysis using silica solid phase and a poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) based column. This enabled the separation of the main radioactive peak from [18F]FPC, [18F]water and [18F]scrape brine. Metabolites were identified by mass spectrometry (MS). None of the metabolites were found to be present in the blood compartment at the same level as [18F]FPC. Finally, and of special relevance to tumor imaging, microautoradiography of excised tissue slices showed accumulation of [18F]FPC in the tumor section.
